elliefreckles bike rides in Yosemite
When planning our trip to America I was adamant that we had to experience the iconic Yosemite landscape by bike. I’ve always romanticised the notion of riding your bike through open plains and a beautiful view. For one, it’s easier than walking, you can breeze through long trails whilst sitting with a little cool wind on your face. Secondly, it’s such an immersing activity that let’s you feel right in the midst of nature. And lastly, riding a bike is always a bit fun, a little like this!
We spent a few days in Yosemite but bike riding was definitely the best way to experience the natural beauty of the park in my opinion. Even though I only had it for a day I got quite attached to my shiny red bicycle (above).
Beautiful photographs! Enjoyed!
God Bless You!
A lot more than 60 people should “like” this! Beautiful! Honestly!
yes, very nice look!
You know, you almost make me want to learn how to ride a bike with this post…
(Yes, I know it’s crazy that I don’t know how to ride a bike … well, one without training wheels, that is…please blame my parents first, my 6 feet of height second and my unwillingness to fall in front of laughing onlookers third.)
😉
Absolutely GORGEOUS photos. I’ve also never been to Yosemite. Perhaps that is the lower hanging fruit…
Aww well it is definitely worth it! I’d recommend learning on grass though. I learnt on concrete – lots of cuts and bruises. My little sister learnt on grass – no scarred knees.
Haha. Don’t feel bad. When I was learning I hit a parked van. I was moving turtle slow. Don’t do that and I think you’ll be okay. 😀
You can learn. Once we took the training wheels off my daughter, she learned in about 30 min. Just put your legs down at both sides while you’re learning and they act as training wheels but you get used to the feel of the balance rather than depending on them and expecting them to catch you. SO worth it to experience life on a bike cause you go slow enough to enjoy it and soak it in!
Thank you for the support, blogging friends! I swear, I’m the biggest hypocrite: I taught both children how to ride a bike, yet I can’t do it myself. It has to be the silliest thing ever to have atop a bucket list — yet there it is!
🙂
And thanks to your suggestions, I’m avoiding concrete and parked vans…
Nothing on your bucket list is silly! It’s wonderful to have dreams and aspirations and as long as they seem amazing to you that is all that matters! I guarantee someone else has something “silly” on theirs too – if they even have a list!
What an amazing quality of light. Very enjoyable, super photographs. 😉
First picture is amazing!
beautiful!
Wow, that’s a trip I’d love to do! One of the best holidays I ever went on was a cycling holiday with my family when I was 17 years old. Lovely post and congrats on being freshly pressed…
Two of my favorite things – cycling and scenery !
Gorgeous photos! Love the first one!
Yosemite is an awesome place. We spent 9 days there this past summer and it was magical. Crowded. but magical.
I definitely recommend renting a bike while in Yosemite. Looks like you had gorgeous weather for your trip, I’m jealous!
Love the pics
Wow – lovely photos, and you must be quite fit indeed to ride in such a mountainous area on such a heavy-looking bike. And it got you Freshly Pressed too. Congratulations.
Truly a marvellous scenery ….. great photographs.
I wish somedays that I’m able to visit USA and the
Yosemite Natioanl Park.
Warmest regards from Singapore.
Very beautiful photos. This makes me want to try riding a bike again. 🙂
Beautiful pictures and blog. keep up the great work!
As a family, we ride a lot. You have just given me a good idea for our next family vacation. So amazing.
I went with my family it was lovely 🙂
These are beautiful photos! I am a WordPress photographer as well!
Great job!
I’ll have to consider bike riding through Yosemite while there in a few weeks…great idea.
Great = Bikes + nature. Maybe also check out the bikes-related stories we present… – the transatlantic diablog

spectacular!
beautiful
Looks like a tremendous place for a bike ride! I am jealous every time I see a person on a bike.
Very nice images. Taking a bike is a great way of seeing areas like this it gives excellent mobility to see more of the surroundings.
I LOVED Yosemite when we went there a few years ago (I posted about my Yosemite in 2 posts in Jan). Your pictures are beautiful. I didn’t see it on a bike, but that would have been fun. Have you tried Zion National Park on a bike? You’d have fun taking pictures there.
I’m actually from Sydney so I might not be able to do that trip for awhile but I just googled it it looks beautiful
The last one? Amazing. 🙂
Outstanding photos! I’ve always wanted to go to Yosemite. These photos make me want to move that trip up on our list. Thank you for sharing!
So beautiful ^__^
Beautiful photos, and nice capture of your awesome bike. I would love to bike ride there(:
Wow, it looks absolutely gorgeous there. Wonderful photos and congrats on being freshly pressed!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
Thanks for sharing… this may be as close as I will get to these lovely sights.
I’ll be in Yosemite this May. I’ll look into renting bicycles – your pictures are lovely!
Those bikes have gotten me some pretty crazy places! Great images.
Five of us rode the Yellowstone loop in the nineties. There is nothing better than communing with nature at twelve miles per hour. After seeing your photos I must add a ride through Yosemite to my bucket list.
Beautiful! Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed!
breathtaking shots. There is nothing like a spot of outdoors to get the juices flowing
Stunning photos!! I’ve always wanted to go to Yosemite… it looks absolutely beautiful.

Looks fun. Congrats on being FP!
Great photography!!! Beautiful place I’ve been wanting to go to! I love to ride but I’m a photographer and I live in Arkansas so we don’t have mountains like that. Lots of cool nature but nothing on that big of a scale. Thanks for sharing. I’ve got some waterfalls and nature photography on my website if you’d like to check it out. And if I get to go out there I’ll let you know. Thanks again.
Have you been to Denali? You absolutely HAVE to visit Denali!
Also CONGRATS on fresh pressed and all that!
Wow. Gorgeous pictures. I hope I get to do something like that someday.

Ah Yosemite, such a vast and beautiful part of the world

Love the photos. Congrats on being freshly pressed.
You are absolutely right! I also biked through Yosemite last summer and it is a great way to avoid the traffic that backs up around this National Park – things get very crowded there in the summertime. Gorgeous photos 🙂
Stunning photos, and what a beautiful place to go cycling 🙂

Absolutely beautiful imagery! Someone came by asking for donations today. Couldn’t make a donation today, but support for anti-mining is important. http://www.environmentcalifornia.org/programs/cae/save-yosemite
Stunning photos. Love the red bike. Reminds me of the resort bikes they had when I stayed in Antigua. Was great fun to hop on the bike and blitz around the resort, from beach to villa and restaurants. Also did a ride across Canada – and I have to say – I saw so many great things, wildlife that the cars, zooming by, missed! It is a brilliant way to experience the world! Glad you enjoyed your trip – hope to do one of these days.
Very beautiful place and love to reach once.
Wow. Things have been a living hell for me this week, then I saw your blog; reminds me how long I haven’t taken a break from work… Wished I could go on some bike rides in Yosemite right away, maybe just anywhere around the world! … brilliant photos, enjoy life!

just beautiful…
this is such a great idea! My boyfriend and I wanted to go up to Yosemite in July and experiencing it by bike would be just awesome! I’ve never been there before though and I imagine it so huge so… where did you rent your bike? is it easy to find the iconic places and are they accessible by bike? like, not too many steep hills to ride up etc.? do you have any other advice and tips on that topic? sorry for all those questions, its just that yosemite has been my dream for so long 🙂 If you have any tips for us I would be really happy!
Hi, that’s okay I’m excited for you! We hired the bikes inside the park, here’s the link: http://www.yosemitepark.com/activities_biking.aspx We more just rode around the flat trails at the bottom of the valley and then left our bikes at the bottom of steeper trails so we could walk up them. My parents said camping there was amazing (but we stayed in a lodge when we went with them). Have you booked your accommodation already? Hope any of that helped and that you have a great trip 🙂
Wow, beautiful photos! I’ve never thought of bike riding through Yosemite but I’ll definitely have to try this some day!
God this has only made me want to visit Yosemite even more!

Such beautiful pictures.. wooww!!! 🙂
Edward Abbey an American Environmentalist promoted for the closer of national parks to cars. He insisted that riding bikes and walking is the only way you can truly explore these parks. I am a firm believer of this. I am glad that you got to experience Yosemite on bike. Your photos are amazing! Makes me want to go to Yosemite and ride my bike for days.
Beautiful pictures! Makes me want to get active again and bike ride.
awesome….
Hello! I’m French and I have already travelled in the U.S.a long time ago.I have been in Seattle among other cities. I have thought that was the most beautiful
city I ever seen when I saw it for the first time…Seattle is not very far from Yosemite national park,if I rememember well,a park as such beautiful as I can see on your photographies.U.S.A is really a beautiful country,Thanks to you.
❤ the scenery.. beautiful photos….
dear khrysskroez,I don’t know if you were biking on the first scene with elliefreckles, but for myself i should have been with you with such a panorama. The power of that photograf is so strong that you feel it inside yourself as a glass of water like some places you already know and where you like to go sometimes to resourses yourself,I’m happy to meet someone who like that philosophy
I wish to see this view too but I’m somewhere very far from Yosemite…this kind of view is really breathtaking..
i’m not myself very close from Yosemite, actually i’m from France, a little village in the north of France named “Gruson”,I’m happy that you have replayed to my message. How it is where you live,is the nature breathtaking as on the photography of Yosemite?Where i live the landscape is as very flat as a sheet of paper. Thanks to wordpress for travelling all over the world from my desk and for “speaking” with other people with others cultures such ,as elliefreckles from Sidney ,and you where are you from? Please to read you…
I’m from Philippines…I assure you that the views here are breathtaking as well.. just different kind of scenery, not same as Yosemite..:)
dear khrysskroez , I have tried two times to reply to your message and two times I lost my messages with bad validations. I’m sorry but i could not have
further exchanges with you for you are too far from France. However if you want to continue to talk ,you can,I should be happy! Sorry to have been so late
to replay to you.
